What a day for St. Michael’s Catholic School! On Saturday, our amazing Eagles took home the championship trophy in the Regional Elementary Volleyball Tournament, beating five other local schools in a series of exciting matches. The gym was buzzing with cheers, high-fives, and a lot of “Go Eagles!” chants.
The final match was full of energy and edge-of-your-seat action. St. Michael’s faced off against St. Anne’s Elementary, a team known for their fast moves and tricky plays. But our Eagles were ready! With quick passes, powerful spikes, and teamwork that couldn’t be beaten, St. Michael’s soared to victory. Captain Emma Rodriguez led the way with amazing serves and rally-winning hits, keeping everyone pumped up on the court.
“I couldn’t believe we won!” Emma said, grinning from ear to ear. “We practiced so much, and everyone on the team did their best. I’m really proud of us!”
Coach Daniel Peterson said the secret to the win was more than just practice. “These kids played with heart and never gave up,” he said. “They listened to each other, cheered each other on, and worked together as a team. That’s what made the difference.”
The Eagles’ path to the championship wasn’t easy. In the semifinals, they played against St. Joseph’s Academy in a match that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. St. Michael’s came from behind to win 25-22, 25-19, showing everyone just how determined and skilled they are.
Students, parents, and teachers filled the stands to cheer for the team, waving posters and shouting encouragement. Sister Margaret O’Leary, the school principal, said, “Winning is exciting, but the best part is seeing our students work together, have fun, and support each other. That’s what makes St. Michael’s so special!”
The team also got some extra recognition: every player received a medal, and Emma Rodriguez was named Most Valuable Player for her incredible performance throughout the tournament. Next week, the school will host a special assembly to celebrate the team and their amazing teamwork.
With smiles, cheers, and the championship trophy shining bright, the Eagles have inspired the whole school. Their hard work, fun spirit, and teamwork showed everyone that with practice and heart, anything is possible. Way to go, Eagles!
