Girls track

The girls' track program at St. Matthew’s High School is a dynamic and competitive part of the school's athletic department. It provides student-athletes with the opportunity to develop their speed, endurance, and teamwork while competing in various track and field events. The program runs during the spring season, typically from March through May, and includes a variety of events such as sprints, middle-distance races, long-distance runs, hurdles, relays, and field events like long jump, high jump, and shot put. The team competes in local and regional meets, allowing athletes to test their skills against strong competition. St. Matthew’s emphasizes personal growth and team spirit, encouraging athletes to push their limits while supporting one another. Coaches focus on refining technique, building endurance, and fostering a positive mindset. Training sessions include strength conditioning, speed drills, and strategy discussions to help athletes maximize their performance. Beyond competition, the track program instills discipline, perseverance, and confidence in its athletes. Many students find that the lessons learned on the track—such as goal-setting, resilience, and teamwork—translate into success in academics and other aspects of life. The school takes pride in its inclusive approach, welcoming athletes of all skill levels. Whether students are aiming for personal bests, preparing for collegiate athletics, or simply enjoying the sport, the program provides a supportive environment for growth. With a strong tradition of excellence and camaraderie, the girls' track team at St. Matthew’s High School continues to be a source of pride for the school community. The program not only develops skilled athletes but also fosters lifelong friendships and valuable life skills that extend beyond the track.
